Shoulder: Amazonomachy with Theseus (inscribed).
Body: Woman and youth seated on couch, with women and Erotes around.
The vase has been extensively restored and repainted, but what remains of the original leaves no doubt that it was by the Painter of the Berlin Dancing Girl; note in particular the drawing.of the eyes and the rendering of the ear. Of the scene on the shoulder the following details are genuine: part of the warrior with a shield, part of Theseus, most of the three figures in the chariot and part of the horses; of the frieze round the body: the head of the draped woman to I., parts of the woman and youth on the couch, the lower part of the woman beside it, the wings of Eros.
In style and drawing it is to be closely associated with Naples 2861 (no. 4) and 3140 (no. 11).
